1. The mold is a tool that makes the blank into a workpiece of a specific shape and size under the action of external force. It is widely used in blanking, die forging, cold heading, extrusion, powder metallurgy parts pressing, pressure casting, as well as the forming and processing of compression molding or injection molding of engineering plastics, rubber, ceramics and other products. The die has a specific profile or cavity shape, and the application of a profile shape with a cutting edge allows the blank to be separated (punched) according to the shape of the contour line. The application of the shape of the inner cavity allows the blank to obtain the corresponding three-dimensional shape.
2. The mold generally includes two parts: the moving mold and the fixed mold (or punch and concave mold), which can be divided or combined. When separated, the workpiece is taken out, and when closed, the blank is injected into the mold cavity for forming. The mold is a precision tool, the shape is complex, bear the expansion force of the blank, the structural strength, stiffness, surface hardness, surface roughness and machining accuracy have high requirements, the development level of mold production is one of the important symbols of the level of machinery manufacturing.
