There are various mold processing methods, so let's analyze the knowledge of EDM processing methods. EDM machining mainly uses the electrical corrosion phenomenon of pulsed spark discharge between the tool and the workpiece to erode excess metal to achieve the size, shape and surface quality specified in the technical requirements of the part.
1. The mold EDM processing method must meet three major conditions:
(1) A certain gap must be maintained between the tool electrode and the surface to be processed by the workpiece, so the automatic feeding and adjustment device of the tool electrode must be provided in EDM;
(2) The spark discharge must be an instantaneous pulse discharge, and a pulse power supply must be used for EDM;
(3) The spark discharge must be carried out in a liquid medium with certain insulation properties.
2. Factors affecting the abolition rate of EDM: electrical gauge, polarity effect, thermal constant of metal materials, working fluid, chip removal conditions.
3. Factors affecting the accuracy of EDM machining: various errors of the machine tool itself, the manufacturing accuracy of the tool electrode, the positioning and installation error of the workpiece and electrode, the size and consistency of the discharge gap, the loss of the workpiece electrode and its processing stability.
4. Electrode material requirements for EDM: low loss, stable processing process, high productivity, good machining performance and low price. Commonly used materials: copper, graphite, cast iron, steel, brass, tungsten alloy, silver-tungsten alloy. Structure: (1) integral electrode (2) inlaid electrode (3) combined electrode.
5. The method of EDM processing cavity mold: (1) single electrode translational method (2) multi-electrode replacement method (3) decomposition electrode method.
